This week’s Sunday Telegraph carried a story about the events surrounding the kidnap and killing of the much loved Irish racehorse Shergar on the 25th anniversary of his death.
It turned into a PR disaster for the IRA and served as wrenching reminder that the deep emotional bonds between humans and animals can, at times, transcend even the most passionate human conflicts.
