With the help of excellent clinical care at St Vincent’s Hospital in New York plus the loving care of family and a fierce determination to get well, Sam left hospital a week after his admission from a moderate stroke. The speed of his recovery left even experienced staff amazed. The said “we cannot connect your admission notes with the patient we see before us”. The doctor doing the discharge exam said “the army will have you” to which Sam replied “they will have anybody”.
Of course he will need weeks of rehab but he resumed work yesterday signing books at Milk Gallery for the project sponsor, Tommy Hilfiger.
A charming French lady who works for the UN Secretary General came in and said “Oh my God, I heard on the news that you were seriously ill and here you are signing books, this is wonderful”!
We are all enormously relieved to see Sam well on the road to recovery.
He will resume posting to his blog tomorrow.
